Our Story
Our Story
Founded in the year 2024 by Shawn Kamano who grew up in a slum in Nairobi. Raise a Man is dedicated to transforming the lives of the people living in the underserved communities.
Growing up, Shawn saw many young men struggling silently with mental health challenges, peer pressure, lack of guidance, harmful social expectations, crime, substance abuse, violence, and limited opportunities to openly express themselves or seek support.
The reality became a growing concern which inspired Shawn to start Raise A Man initiative - a youth focused movement focusing on raising emotionally healthy, responsible and purpose-driven men able to lead positive change in their families and communities.
It started as passion for mentorship and community engagement then gradually grew into structured programs focusing on mental health awareness, positive masculinity, life skills, leadership development, SRHR education and violence prevention.
Through workshops, school programs, community outreach, advocacy campaigns, and mentorship sessions, Raise A Man has continued to create safe spaces where young men can learn, heal, grow, and lead change in their communities.

The Future
As we visualize the next 5 years, we believe that sustainability and growth comes through strategic partnerships, donor support, volunteer networks, visibility, and measurable impact.
The goal is not just to run activities, but to build a movement that continuously develop men into emotionally healthy, responsible, and purpose-driven, leading sustainable change.
Every workshop conducted, every conversation started, and every person empowered brings us closer to stronger families, safer communities, and a better future for society.
